Karin Kovalovsky, Vice President of Marketing at Air Academy Federal Credit Union,
was recently chosen by the Filene Research Institute and the Center for Credit Union
Innovation to serve as a member of i3, a group
dedicated to stimulating the development of new ideas and innovations for credit
unions via the “next generation” credit union leaders. Kovalovsky will participate
in deliberations with other innovators from across North America.
To qualify, members of i3 obtained commitment
and support from their credit union and its CEO. Each member will serve a three-year
term, and participate in semi-annual national meetings arranged by Filene Research
Institute. The next meeting will be held September 20-22 in Vancouver, B.C., Cananda.
“The Filene Research institute is determined to tap the creative skills and energies
of these leaders to benefit the industry,” says Mark Meyer, Director of Innovation,
“This professional work group will draw upon the talents from highly talented credit
union professionals. They will identify and evaluate the potential and recent credit
union innovations that meet member needs. The i3
group will also develop strategies to lower costs and increase credit union operational
efficiencies, build member loyalty, and meet the special needs of member segments.”
Recruiting efforts generated hundreds of inquiries and over 120 applications from
qualified credit union executives from around the country, to replace 25 members
who are completing their three-year term. The selection process evaluated innovative
aptitude, experience and other key factors including present position, leadership
abilities, motivation, geography and type of credit union.
