Do not trust email. It is very easy to forge an email from the sender of your choice.
Phishers, individuals attempting to acquire your personal/confidential information,
forge emails from your financial institution requesting you to "verify" your information,
such as your name, SSN, date of birth, account number, I-Branch password, credit
card number, etc. These emails often contain broken English and misspellings, but
this is not always the case. The email usually includes a link to a website that
appears to be the financial institution's website. The link in the email may even
match the financial institution's web site, but clicking on it will send you to
another site that is controlled by the phisher. If you believe an email to be valid,
manually type the web address in the browser's address bar or call the financial
institution to verify the validity of the email. AAFCU will never initiate an email
requesting non-public information from you. We use a secure email application for
the communication of confidential information. To contact AAFCU electronically click here. If you receive a
fraudulent email that appears to come from AAFCU please forward it on to
contactus@aafcu.com. |
