Pop-Up Blockers |
|
|
|
Use a pop-up blocker. A pop-up is a new browser window opened by the website you
are currently visiting; this is usually done with JavaScript. Malicious websites
will barrage you with pop-ups in the hope that you will inadvertently click in the
wrong spot while trying to close the windows and download their virus or spyware.
Some pop-ups will use flaws in your web browser to download and install spyware
or a virus without your knowledge. Pop-up blockers protect your PC by preventing
these windows from opening. Some browsers, such as Firefox, Internet Explorer for
Windows XP Service Pack 2, and Safari have built in pop-up blockers. Make sure it
is enabled. There are third party pop-up blockers and most of the reputable search
engine toolbars contain a pop-up blocker if your browser does not come with one.
Note: many of AAFCU’s sites use pop-ups for additional functionality. You will need
to configure your pop-up blocker to allow pop-ups from www.aafcu.com, remotebanking.aafcu.com,
and eminders.aafcu.com. |
