How does my AAFCU Visa Gift Card work? |
|
|
Use your AAFCU Visa Gift card everywhere Visa debit cards are accepted, including
retail stores, online merchants, and for mail and phone orders.
- Your card looks like any Visa card, but it is a prepaid card.
- Spending is limited to the amount of money placed on the card by the purchaser,
less any fees or charges that have been assessed against the card.
- Each time you use your card, the amount of the transaction is deducted from the
balance on your card.
- You cannot use your AAFCU Visa Gift Card at an ATM.

Is the AAFCU Visa Gift Card a credit card? |
|
|
|
No. The AAFCU Visa Gift Card is a prepaid Visa card that carries a fixed cash amount
determined by the giver at the time of purchase. Each time the gift recipient uses
the card, the purchase amount is deducted from the available balance on the card.
|
|
|
|
How long can I use my AAFCU Visa Gift Card? |
|
|
|
You can make purchases using your AAFCU Visa Gift Card until the value of the card
has been depleted or until the expiration date shown on the card.
|
|
|
|
Will there be any fees for using the card? |
|
|
|
There is no fee for using the card within 12 months of the purchase date. Starting
on the 13th month, AAFCU will deduct from the balance of the card a monthly maintenance
fee of $2.50. See the Terms and Conditions for additional details and information
on other fees.

Does the AAFCU Visa Gift Card have an expiration
date? |
|
|
|
Yes. A “good thru” date is indicated on the front of the card. See the
Terms and Conditions for more information on the fees that apply.

The AAFCU Visa Gift Card can be used everywhere Visa debit cards are accepted. The AAFCU Visa Gift Card cannot be
used at ATMs or to obtain a cash advance. |

How can I purchase an item that costs more than
the balance on my AAFCU Visa Gift Card? |
|
|
Follow these steps when paying for a purchase using your AAFCU Visa Gift Card and
a second payment method:
- Let the merchant know in advance that you will be using two methods of payment.

Present the card and state the specific amount to be deducted.
- Pay the difference with a second method of payment - cash, check, or credit/debit
card.

It is important to keep track of your remaining card balance so you know the funds
that you have available |

Can I use my AAFCU Visa Gift Card at gas stations? |
|
|
|
Yes, but give your card to the station attendant and state exactly how much gas
you want to purchase instead of swiping your card at the pump.

Can I use my AAFCU Visa Gift Card at restaurants
and hotels? |
|
|
|
Yes, but be aware that many restaurants, hotels and other merchants may add an automatic
tip or other anticipated service charge to the purchase amount when authorizing
card purchases. If your bill, plus the estimated tip or additional
charge, exceeds the balance of your AAFCU Visa Gift Card, the transaction may be
declined. If this happens, ask the merchant to deduct a specific amount from the
card and use another method of payment for the balance or tip.

Can I use my AAFCU Visa Gift Card for online and phone purchases? |
|
|
|
Yes, but be sure to activate the card first by clicking here.
When you make online or phone purchases be sure to use the same name, address,
and phone number you used when you activated your card. Otherwise, your transaction
may be declined.

What should I do if my AAFCU Visa Gift Card
purchase is declined? |
|
|
|
Make sure there are sufficient funds on your AAFCU Visa Gift Card before making
a purchase. You can check the balance of your Gift Card by clicking here. If your transaction was
declined, even if there were sufficient funds on your card, then phone the number on the back of your card
|
|
|
|
What if I need to return an item that I purchased
with my AAFCU Visa Gift Card? |
|
|
|
You may need to present your AAFCU Visa Gift Card at the time of a merchandise return.
If the merchant's return policy allows, the merchant will credit the amount of the
purchase back onto your Gift Card. Remember to save your receipts and the Gift Card
even after you have spent all the funds, in case there are any merchandise returns.

What should I do if my AAFCU Visa Gift Card is lost
or stolen?
|
|
|
|
Report lost or stolen cards immediately by phoning the number on the back of your
card. You will need to have the card number to cancel the card and have a replacement
card issued. You will have to pay a fee of $4 for this service. Keep a record of
your AAFCU Visa Gift Card number in a safe place, separate from the card.

Terms and Conditions |

The following are your Air Academy Federal Credit Union Visa Gift Card Terms and
Conditions. In these Terms and Conditions "you" or "your" means the person who has
received the Air Academy Federal Credit Union Visa Gift Card; "we", "us" or "our"
means Air Academy Federal Credit Union; "Card" means the Air Academy Federal Credit
Union Visa Gift Card. Please read the following carefully and keep them for your
records. Upon receipt, the Gift Card should be signed immediately. By accepting
and using your Card, you are agreeing to these Terms and Conditions. |

- Gift cards do have an expiration date.
- Gift cards can be used
anywhere Visa is accepted, however cardholder must know the balance remaining on
the card.
- Cards Purchased via Live Operator Assistance
(embossed with cardholder’s name) - $10.00 per card, $1.00 for 1st class shipping
or $25.00 for overnight shipping.
- Cards Purchased via the Internet (embossed
with cardholder’s name) - $4.95 per card, $1.00 for 1st class shipping or $25.00
for overnight shipping.*
- Cards Purchased
Over-the-Counter (an instant issue-not embossed with cardholders name) - $4.95
per card.
- Minimum and maximum gift card values: $20 to $500.
- Card purchased via the Internet or Live Operator Assistance that exceeds $200
will be shipped to the member who purchased the cards and not to the recipient of
the cards.

Gift Card Usage |
|
Your Air Academy Federal Credit Union Visa Gift Card is issued by Air Academy Federal
Credit Union and may be used for purchases at most merchants where Visa Debit is
accepted. The card may not be used at some merchants including airlines, recurring
payments, and non-financial money exchange establishments, hotels, gambling establishments,
rental car agencies or "pay at the pump" gasoline. (You may purchase gas by presenting
the card to the attendant). Some merchants, like restaurants, may attempt to submit
authorizations against the card for an amount greater than the actual purchase amount.
If a merchant attempts an authorization greater than the balance remaining on your
gift card, it may be declined.

Before using your Air Academy Federal Credit Union Visa Gift Card, you may register
the card on the Gift Card Website, which can be accessed at www.aafcu.com. You must
sign the back before you can use the Card. |
|
|
|
This Gift Card is not a credit card. You may only use it when there is a balance
remaining on the card and only up to the amount left on the card. Purchases will
be deducted from your Credit Union Visa Gift Card until the value reaches zero.
If you are given value through the use of the Card greater than the balance remaining,
you will pay us on demand the amount by which your transactions exceeded the balance
remaining on the Card. |

The Air Academy Federal Credit Union Gift Card is non-reloadable and cannot be reused.

Foreign Usage |
|
If you use your gift card for a transaction in a foreign currency the transaction
will be converted to U.S. dollars in accordance with applicable Visa operating regulations
for international transactions. The conversion rate in dollars will be a rate selected
by Visa from a range of rates available in wholesale currency markets for the applicable
Central Processing Date, which rate may vary from the rate Visa itself receives,
or the government mandated rate in effect for the applicable Central Processing
Date in each instance, plus or minus any adjustment determined by the issuer. |
