Google Pay™

AAFCU supports Google Pay for your Debit Mastercard®! You already use your phone for everything, why not pay with it too! Just add your AAFCU Debit Mastercard for an easy and convenient way to pay! 

You can use your Google Pay compatible device to pay for purchases at participating merchants and within participating apps by looking for these symbols at checkout:

Learn how to get started:

  • Add your AAFCU debit card to your Android device:

    • Open up the Google Play™ store on your device and download the Google Pay app

    • Click on the plus sign to add a card already linked to your Google Play store or position

      your card in the camera frame to automatically enter your card information

    • Enter the security code found on the back of your card, and fill in any remaining fields requested

    • Accept the terms and conditions

    • Once your AAFCU debit card information is entered your device, we will verify the information provided for approval. At times, we may need additional verification and will request you contact us at 800.223.1983 to complete the registration process

  • How to make a purchase with Google Pay:

    To pay with Google Pay in stores:

    • Wake up and unlock your device

    • Tap your device against the contactless payment terminal. Your default card in Google Pay will be used to complete the transaction

    • A green check mark and beep or vibrate will appear on your phone to show you your payment was processed

    To make purchases within participating merchant apps on your Android device, select Google Pay at checkout. Your default card in Google Pay will be used to complete the transaction.

    If asked to verify the last four digits of your card number when making a purchase, be sure to provide the last four digits of the Virtual Account Number. To locate your Virtual Account Number, tap on your AAFCU debit card in the Google Pay app and scroll down to your card details.

  • How secure is Google Pay?

    When using Google Pay, your AAFCU debit card number isn’t stored on your device or given to the merchant. A unique Virtual Account Number is created specifically for that device. Additionally, when you set up Google Pay, you will have to create a screen lock if you don’t already have one. As always, you are protected against fraudulent and unauthorized transactions with Zero Liability. Zero Liability does not apply to PIN based transactions not processed by Mastercard®. Other conditions may apply. See your Account Agreement and Disclosures for additional details. 

  • What happens if my Google Pay enabled device is lost or stolen?

    Android™ Device Manager will help you find, lock, and erase your phone. Also, call AAFCU at 800.223.1983 so we can disable your AAFCU debit card for use with Google Pay. Because your AAFCU debit card number is not stored directly on your device, we won’t need to cancel your debit card. If you locate your device, you will need to add your debit card back to Android Pay prior to making any purchases.

  • What is a Virtual Account Number?

    When you add your AAFCU debit card to Google Pay, a Virtual Account Number is created. Your AAFCU debit card number is not stored on your device. When a merchant requests the last four digits of your card number to complete the transaction, you will need to provide the last four digits of your Virtual Account Number. To locate your Virtual Account Number, tap on your AAFCU debit card in the Google Pay app and scroll down to your card details.
