Here’s how to stay safe on Black Friday:

1.) Make a plan

Planning means spending less, quicker shopping times and less issues that could go wrong. Start by making a list of what you need. Then gather all the paper ads or look online at your local stores to research which store has the best deals. Then map out your route! Double check the times, several places have timed sales and you don't want to miss out!

2.) Credit card only

Using only your credit card can be hard to track for your budget, but credit cards are the best way to do shopping when higher risk is involved. You always have the option to dispute a charge is anything arises that isn't correct. Be sure to keep your card as close to you as possible. Make sure your purse is closed, and zipper facing your body, or your wallet is in a jacket pocket up front where you can see it instead of your normal back packet. If you use a debit card, always cover the payment terminal with your second hand when inputting your PIN.

3.) Shop with a pairs or groups whenever possible

The old saying "there is safety in numbers" couldn't be truer when it comes to shopping in big crowds like Black Friday. Being in groups, and always making sure you know where everyone is at all time makes it harder for a criminal to isolate you. Large crowds make it harder to find a criminal, so always make sure to stick with your friends!

4.) Keep your cool

It might be a great bargain, but nothing you can purchase on Black Friday is worth your health or safety. Stick to your list, and only buy what you need. If things start going south that’s your cue to leave the store.

5.) Move your car

If your plan is to be at a shopping mall more than an hour, periodically move your car to the other side of the mall or another parking lot. Believe it or not, thieves watch the parking lots to watch shoppers put bags of items in their car. Once they know you have bags in your car, they will easily break in, and take off without you even knowing. But if you load bags into your car, and leave the current parking lot, they think you have left and likely won't follow. Make sure to keep all your bags hidden in the back of your car. Try using a blanket, or jacket to cover all your bags so they can't be seen from the outside!
