1. Visit one of Colorado’s many Free museums and visitor centers; just be sure to check their hours and availability beforehand!

  2. Be on the lookout for upcoming events and shows at your local coffee shop – many of these events are free to attend and provide a warm, ambient atmosphere to escape to!

  3. Hang out at your local library, or maybe even check out one of the libraries across town that you’ve never visited before! Many local libraries host events year-round of all sorts, and some even offer free classes of various kinds.

  4. If you or someone you know has kids that are raring to get out and explore, try taking them to your local mall. Most malls have kids’ play areas that are open year-round and free to use.

  5. If it’s not too snowy or icy out but still a fairly chilly day, try searching some safe and scenic byways to enjoy from the warmth and comfort of your car, though keep in mind the cost of gas and how far you’ll need to drive to get there!

  6. Visit your city’s website (or even that of the next city over!) and check out their events page for any information on upcoming events that may interest you.

  7. Gather friends and family for a crafting day! While depending on the decided location this may or may not get you out of the house for a few hours, crafting is a great way to spend a day enjoying the company of loved ones, and you don’t necessarily need to go shopping! Ask friends and family members to bring any crafting supplies or “junk drawer” items they might have lying around and challenge each other to make something new.

  8. Visit a large department store and play games by yourself or with others, provided your games are courteous to staff and non-destructive. Some ideas for games include:

    • make yourself a wish list for the future of all the things that aren’t quite practical to buy just yet

    • Start a scavenger hunt for themed items such as dinosaurs or specific animals

    • Take pictures of items and design an imaginary room for a friend or family member based on what you know about them

Whatever you choose to do, always remember to stay safe, be aware of and courteous to those around you, and have fun!
